Sustainability Coordinator

As a business, Homebase is committed to local community and environmental initiatives. In order to build on current programmes and support new initiatives moving forward, we have an opportunity for a Communications Coordinator to join our newly created team within the Marketing function.

Within this role you will support the implementation of sustainability and communication strategies and programmes; increase and enhance relationships with internal and external stakeholders; maintain an awareness of sustainability and business issues; conducting research, creating reports and background briefing notes when required.

Experience within a marketing/communications team would be beneficial as would an appreciation for the retail landscape but most importantly, a passion for community, charity and the environment is essential.

Key responsibilities:

Identifying potential national and local initiatives and programmes that reinforce Bunnings brand positioning (not for profit, government or otherwise)
Assist with the development and execution of company initiatives that increase team engagement and education in sustainability; products, trends and potential issues
Help manage external partnerships which achieve strong commercial and/or brand outcomes
Create sustainability and business communications; posters, emails, presentations or newsletters to educate team members and stakeholders
Content creation for various internal and external annual reports
Research and remain up to date with Government initiatives (both local and national) which would provide opportunities for engagement; ‘Green Week’, ‘Energy Efficiency Roadshows’ etc.
Identify thought leadership opportunities for Bunnings
Attend events and provide support where required

As Communications Coordinator (Business & Sustainability), your skills & qualifications will ideally include:

Strong communications skills
Can undertake detailed and thorough research and put this into appropriate format, depending on different audiences
Awareness of public policy, local Government and charities required
Interest in sustainability and community initiatives
Public Relations and media relations experience
Able prioritise workload and use initiative
Ability to manage multiple internal and external stakeholder relationships

Able to handle lots of data and/or information, extracting and simplifying relevant details.
